Pedro Castillo
Associate Professor, History
Pedro Castillo is Associate Professor of History and Provost of Oakes College (beginning July 1, 2002) and has been at UCSC for over 25 years.
He is very active in the Santa Cruz and Watsonville communities and has been a member and chair of the City of Watsonville Planning Commission.
Moreover, he serves on the boards of the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County and the National Steinbeck Center.
In 1999, he was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the National Council for the National Endowment for the Humanities, where he continues to serve.
His research interests include Mexican American social history, as well as race, class, and gender in California history.
