Environmental Justice Workshop:
Women's Education in the Global Economy (WEdGE) Workbook
A project of the Women of Color Resource Center

The purpose of this module is to examine some of the environmental issues impacting women internationally and how women often form the core of grassroots movements for environmental justice. Participants will explore these themes through two exercises. The first exercise enables participants to examine environmental issues in their work places, homes, and communities. The second exercise looks at how women in different communities have been impacted by environmental degradation and what is being done to solve the problem. The workshop moves form indigenous lands in the U.S., to Adivasi tribes in India, to Kenyan women’s movements, to the battle against toxic pollution on the border, and so on. There is also an extensive list of organizations that can help participants and facilitators go deeper into the issues.
